Please God, Why? Why Me?
imagined by: James Mathias
It’s not often that I leave the computer frustrated and despondent, caused by a lack of options when it comes to buying something online. But this is exactly what occurred two days ago when I typed in a simple search query to google, then to yahoo, then alternating between the two tweaking the query slightly each time only to come up empty handed.
What was I looking for? Well, thanks for asking. I was searching for a place online where I could purchase new and slightly older comic books, specifically the new 6 issue run of my second favorite superhero—second only to Ironman—Moon Knight It started in April 2006, but I only learned of it two days ago, which spurred my quest online.
But damned-it-all I couldn’t find a single comic book shop online, well that’s not entirely true, most seem to have some semblance of a web-site no matter how crap it may be, but none of the ones I found sell subscriptions or even single comics from their web-sites, talk about a local market never expanding to a global market, sheez.
Of course I found good old e-bay had plenty of comics for sale, but the day I buy something from e-bay is probably going to be the same day that the human race dies off and I never get my damned purchase.
So please I beg of thee, my fair readers, help me find my beloved Moon Knight and his new series, that I can purchase without having to use e-bay or go on a thousand mile road trip.
Also if you are a comic book store owner, that wants to move to a global readership/market contact me, I’ll help you make it there, I promise
Update 3:21pm
Thanks to David, and midtown comics, I will soon be the proud owner of Moon Knight #1, #2, #3 and #1 Directors cut (2 copies each, one to save and one to read.) Order has been placed, now it’s just a waiting game!
Apparently #4, #5 and #6 are not yet released. Oh so good!

Do I win? I’ve never been much into comics, but I’m assuming they are released on a monthly basis? You can get two issues, one released on 04/05/06, the other on 05/17/06. Apparently there is also one being released tommorow.

Or you could try the official Marvel website. :P Search for “Moon Knight” here:
http://www.marvel.com/catalog/
It will show you all 6, you can then subscribe or find a retailer near you.

Good find on the midtowncomics… what did you use for a query? and duh on the Marvel site, but I didn’t check them as I assumed you couldn’t purchase directly from them, and I was right. But midtown works. Thanks and yes, you win.

I searched for “Moon Knight”, which lead me to Wikipedia. I looked at the external links section, which lead me to:
http:/ moonknightfan.tripod.com/
There is a buy and sell section there, it listed a couple of stores, Midtown Comics being one of them. The listing kind of threw me as I assumed all of the comics would be available by now, so I checked Marvel’s website.

Ok, phew, I thought it was something simple I overlooked.
I tried the following.
“comics for sale”
“comicbooks”
“comic books”
“new comics”
“Moon Knight comics for Sale”
All of which just returned e-bay and crap store sites, then again i didn’t go much deeper than page 2.
But I did not see midtown comics at all.
In any case thank you.

Glad you were able to find what you wanted. Sometimes, the simpler you make the search the easier it is to find what you’re looking for.

Yes Sarah, I agree, but I think my search was much simpler and straight forward than David’s although David did win and find what I was looking for.

Just curious, why do you refuse to use eBay? :P

uh because it sucks to buy stuff used, and from people I don’t know? That work?
