Ronald

imagined by: James Mathias

Originally I planned to put George Bush in this picture on a leash on all fours, but I realized too late that the angle of Ronnie’s arm was too steep to accomplish, so he was left out.

In any case, I like the look on his face, and the idea that under those stuffy suits, he was a real dirty-naughty bitch.

Papermate ink on dot-matrix printer paper.

Enjoy, more to come tomorrow.

Great drawings. I just wanna know how you can remember exactly which writing tool and paper you used. :O

Well, in edition to having the original drawings, that I can visually study to tell the paper, I can look at any of my drawings and tell you what I used to draw them, as I draw quite differently with each tool.

Plus, I have a terrifically disturbing memory for all things, it’s a gift… and a curse.

Thanks for the compliment though, I really like hearing them smile

I was fortunate enough to watch James’ talent grow and develope over the years…first hand…he used to amaze and fascinate the entire family (still does) with his art. It is a thing of wonder to watch him draw…He can start at virtually any spot of a drawing and go from there and everything is in perspective and sized perfectly for the rest of the figure. For the better part of his growing up he used pens (had to be certain ones…because of the “feel” when he drew) and I was always impressed with how well it turned out given he couldn’t erase anything and start over!

My Mom gives me too much credit. I’ve always felt like it was just something I did, never felt like it was anything special. I have been told by many people along my way that I had a “gift” or a “talent” but, to me it’s always just been something I can do. I think what draws me to drawing is the lack of rules and the control I ultimately have over it’s final appearance, almost as if I’m a “god” (for lack of a better word) for a imaginary world that only exists within my head.

I think the best compliment I’ve ever gotten—if it’s even possible to classify compliments—is;

“Watching James draw is like witnessing the universe come together” - Warren to Kathleen; Owners of “Down to Earth” a cool little alternate beliefs shop in Cottonwood Arizona, that sold Magic cards and Hosted Tournaments that I judged and ran.

Anyway, thank you Mom for always believing in me and my “gift” it went a long ways toward where I am now.
