Only Three Days Left
imagined by: James Mathias
So there are exactly three days left to order a limited edition tee. On Friday I’m taking the existing orders and having them printed. And that will be all she wrote.
The shirts will not be available after Friday, so if you still want one, get it now!
Overall this tee-shirt project has been a failure and a enormous waste of time. I’ve sold 9 of each shirt out of 101. I’m not entirely sure what I did wrong, or where I overestimated my popularity or talent, but something was obviously a miss with this whole thing.
I really appreciate the 11 people who ordered tees, and I hope they enjoy their new shirts.
I’ll post when I get the tees back from the printers, and again after they’ve been shipped out.
So until then, that’s that for the tees.
Oh and in response to the prints and sk8 boards inquiries; Yes I will still offer those in the near future and I hope they’ll be more popular.

Good luck with what? I wouldn’t classify anything in this post as awesome… But thank you for the optimism anyways.

“I’m not entirely sure what I did wrong, or where I overestimated my popularity or talent…”
WTF? Dude, I’ve rarely ever heard you speak so negatively about your art and I can honestly say, I don’t like it.
It didn’t work out… ok, but what does that have to do with your popularity or talent. Absolutely nothing. Say it with me, bro… absofrackinglutely nothing.
How many people said they buy something once they saw what other patterns you’d release. That’s the nature of these types of things (not that I’m any kind of expert). Had more choices been available, perhaps more people would have bought one. Maybe it’s just that these prints didn’t interest enough people (not everyone wants a toaster tee).
However none of this has any bearing on your popularity or talent, man. Perhaps you didn’t market them enough. I mean, you see real brick and mortar businesses go under all the time because of just that.
I think it would have been unwise to think that these tees would sell out on the internet, based on net’sers. Had I been you and wanted to seriously sell these things out, I’d have been slapping ads all over the net at friends’ sites, I’d have printed flyers and distributed them everywhere, I’d have approached local businesses to see if they’d sell the tees in their shops and cut them a commission, etc. These are all things Karen and I have done as we’ve sold her art, our greeting cards, my books, etc.
Again, I’m no expert on the matter and I’m not trying to preach here… the point of this comment is just to say that the “failure” of this endeavor has NOTHING to do with your popularity or talent. Not a damn thing. People love you and your work.
So there.
Lol.

You are 100% right Roger. I was feeling down on myself yesterday and it came through in the post.
I know the failure doesn’t have anything to do with my art or me, aside from the lack of advertising.
I’ve got a game plan for the extra tees from this print run, there will be 13 extras each. And then hopefully I can take those 13 tees and turn this around, of course I’ll have to use different designs after the 13 if it works out, but then again that’s fine anyways.
Thanks for the pep talk I appreciate it.

My next comment (if that one hadn’t worked) was to tell you to suck it up, princess.

Gary
I guess I should buy one before Friday! You ship to Canada?
Oh and on a side note, I noticed the site was down awhile ago, what happened?

James Mathias
Hi Gary, I can ship to Canada.
As for the downtime, I haven’t noticed any recently, when was it?

It was about 15 minutes before I posted my last comment. I typed in the URL and I just saw “Index of…” and then it showed postinfo, and an images folder, etc. I also saw the same thing on 1lotus. At least your back up now.

I was also hoping for some more designs, the current two just didn’t really interest me, although I am a fan of your work.

@Gary, hmm odd. Oh well, nothing to do about it now I suppose.
@Michael, have no fear, I may or may not have had a brilliant idea during my conversation with Roger earlier, and I may or may not have purchased a domain for my idea, and I may or may not have something cooking up that will be explosive.

Getting someone to pay for something has been the challenge of billions.
My opinion is, you tried - and the time was not right. Or, perhaps the shirts weren’t right. Either way, it has little (no, I mean to say NOTHING) to do with you as a person.

dude, there is no failure involved with this. sometimes things happen differently than we expect. I will call you today with payment, sorry it took so long…

i am so excited to get my toaster. I have had to use this crappy toaster oven for so long and i haven’t had really good toast for a while. toaster ovens just don’t cut it.
how about this logo:
JAMES MATHIAS: Great ideas for good toast.

Mr Young, as I explained on the phone yesterday. The tee will not actually create toast for you.
I apologize for any inconvenience.
Also thank you for the slogan suggestion, we will take it under advisement.
