I’m about to experience, undoubtedly, the most boring afternoon of my entire life. All three boys and my wife have appointments—back to back—with the same doctor. I must attend these appointments in order to help my wife wrangle the boys.

And as with every doctor’s appointment I’ve ever attended, I know that what should be a fifteen minute round-trip will turn into a four hour marathon of waiting with brief, occasional visits to the cramped and blandly white room in which assembly-line, flea market paintings hang and out-dated gossip magazines lay for me to enjoy, by the doctor whom has all of five things to say before she leaves for another long waiting period.
