Show Me The Munny
imagined by: James Mathias
I should have posted this a long, long time ago, not sure why I’m just getting around to it now. I apologize to anyone who knew about these. I made some Munny dolls for my sons for Christmas 2006. I wanted to give them each a customized toy made only for them, and when I first found the Munny dolls, I thought they would be perfect, so I bought a pair to customize.
My first mistake was not researching best practices for designing and creating these custom dolls, my second mistake was assuming that there was any information on that subject out there.
I used Sharpie markers to hand draw and color these dolls. They came out better than I expected but worse than I imagined. Sharpies just don’t work for these, they don’t dry completely, even now almost 6 months later they’re still tacky to the touch—live and learn. Overall I’m happy with them, and the boys really love them, you can tell they’ve played with them a lot due to the ink smears on them.

I’d like to do some limited edition Cartoon Redirect Skull Munnys like maybe five or so, and sell them. Let me know if You’d be interested in owning one.
Also if anyone has any recommendations on materials to use to get a better finish on these I’d appreciate it.

Those are really cute! Sorry the Sharpie’s didn’t work, but they don’t usually work on slick surfaces, at least on a permanent basis. I’d suggest a trip to a craft store. I think fabric markers might work.

I’d try paint pens. I used them to draw on glass and the worked fantastically. You should definitely so some for purchase. If they’re under $3.50, I’m down!

Yeah Amy said paint pens too, I’m going to check them out.
The limited edition ones would not be cheap. The doll it self costs $24.95 then it’ll be custom hand painted, 1 of 5 kind of deal.

Those are too cool! I agree with Sara on the fabric marker idea. Are they soft on the inside? Heavy? I can’t tell…they look like they are latex or something. Too awesome. I think you should make some for my kids

If you buy the dolls I’ll decorate them for your boys.
