Not Going to SXSW

imagined by: James Mathias

Lately I’ve had a rough couple of months with work. In other words, nothings happening, new projects aren’t coming through and almost projects are falling through. Work has been really good up until about mid December. Then it just started to fall off.

I’ve got my mortgage, a truck payment, several thousand dollars worth of medical bills, a deductible to come up with for truck repairs and a looming tax bill. And I have no money to pay these bills, and no money coming in.

So needless to say I had to cancel my upcoming appearance at SXSW, where I was going to talk about Health and Business. I’m crushed. I’ve wanted to go to this event for 3 years now, and every time I get close something prevents me from getting there. The worst part this time was that I actually had a great reason to go.

I have a couple of things that might come through next week. But, aside from that I’m falling flat.

Not quite sure what the lesson here is, but I hope I learn it soon, so I can get back to making the money my family needs to survive.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I won’t be at SXSW after all and why.

I hope everyone is doing better than I.

You know the score, keep it clean and on topic. “Spammers” & “trolls” are decimated on sight.

Oh my! That is terrible news!
Ok, take all of the garbage cans and place them somewhere far away from your desk, preferably another room. You don’t want your money to go into the trash so keep the trash away from where your money comes in. Also stay positive and know the deal is sealed when you walk into it.
This is a hard time of year for everyone. Promote yourself heavily. Envision yourself going to SXSW. Really see yourself there. What your wearing and how it will look. Stay positive. Envision new clients. What type of clients do you need anyway? Maybe we can all help you find some?

It’s true, the first few months of the year always seem really tight whenever I talk to freelancers of any kind. My publisher also says the same thing. For me, it’s been especially tight year beginning too.

Keep your chin up. Your talent is undeniable.

I have been trying to come up with ways for you to go to south by south west.
My cousin just moved to Austin.
I was thinking you could stay with her. That would save you hotel money. hahaha Then since I thought we are going to Missouri, and maybe we could drop you off on the way. That would save you gas. hahaa However, I don’t think you live close enough to us were that would be feasible. Where there is a will there is a way. Also, maybe the lesson is that this is not the right time. Maybe something does not agree with your plan. Maybe you are supposed to go some other time and the universe is trying to tell you this.

That’s very nice of you, but James has made up his mind and we both have decided to wait until another time. It will happen when the time is right. smile
